Dr. Wayne, attended Medical school at the University of Michigan, Surgical Residency at the University of Colorado: army service, Vietnam, and Ft. Carson Army Medical Center. Major received a bronze star for removing a live grenade from a soldier. Surgical Fellowship Virginia Mason Medical Center Seattle. Transitioned from surgery in 1974 to Emergency Medicine and EMS. Medical Program Director, EMS for 50 years. Associate Clinical Professor University of Washington. Clinical Professor Washington State University. ACEP Award for “Outstanding Contribution to EMS.” Lifetime achievement award from Washington ACEP. NAEMSP 2025” Keith Neily Award” for lifetime achievement in EMS.
He has authored or coauthored over 100 journal articles and book chapters. He used the AED for the first time out of a hospital in 1974. Special interest in Cardiac Arrest, Post Arrest care, and Airway Management. Active research and development in Airway management.
